Hoplologia

Ηοπλολόγια, or Hoplologia (the study of the warrior), is a Canadian-based experimental archaeology group started in 2008 to study and recreate various historical periods. The organization has not-for-profit status in Canada and is seeking not-for-profit status in the United States. Hoplologia is preparing for two major undertakings; the presentation of a French-Canadian Bourgeois Milice unit for the 2009 recreation of the 1759 Siege of Quebec, and the representation of the phalanx of Plataea at the Battle of Marathon reenactment in Greece in 2011.

Chris Cameron is a life-long reenactor and his experiences in the field with his friends have done a great deal to inform his writing. The Company of Select Marksmen is the unit that Chris founded in the early 1990s. A look at the gallery will show you some pictures of how the Company of Select Marksmen spend their summer weekends. The Northern Brigade is the Canadian umbrella organization for recreating the American Revolution. The British Brigade is the overall coordinating organization for the recreated British Army of the American Revolution.

Members of Hoplologia (hop-low-LOW-gia) are also members of the Company of Select Marksmen, the King's Royal Regiment of New York, and the 80th Light Armed Foot (1759) as well as a host of other military and civilian interpretations.
